"With all wisdom and insight God has made known to us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure that he set forth in Christ, as a plan for the fullness of time, to gather up all things in Christ, things in heaven and things on earth. (Ephesians 1:8b-10.)

In these troubled days of world-wide turmoil, confusion and anxiety, Advent invites us to remember anew what we already know: that we live and move and have our being within God's plan for the fullness of time. A plan begun with the very creation of time; revealed at a particular moment in time, the birth of Jesus; inevitably coming to fulfillment when time is enveloped in eternity and all God's creation is gathered into the Kingdom of God. Our Advent Quiet Morning invites us, a waiting and yearning people, to rest in that knowledge and hope.

We begin with refreshments and an introduction to the practice of silence in community. A simple celebration of the Eucharist leads into three short Advent reflections by Mother Janet, each followed by a 20-minute period of silence. During the silences, you may want to pray in the chapel or church, write or draw in a journal, spend time in our courtyard garden, wander in walking meditation. We conclude at noon with prayer. Come, and in the silence and stillness find new resolve and resilience in Advent's promise of God-with-us always.
