During the month of June, the Women of St. Barnabas will be collecting cleaning supplies and personal hygiene items for the residents of West Women’s and Children’s Shelter. These items can be placed in the decorated Christmas box in the narthex of the church. The shelter is always in need of new supplies and are always very grateful for St. Barnabas’s contributions.
The Women of St. Barnabas collected items, then Kay and Stu Martin stuffed their van full of bedding, cleaning supplies and personal items for the women and children who reside at the shelter. Thanks to the generous donations of parish members, they also delivered $260 in Fred Meyer gift cards that the shelter can use for purchasing necessary items. Kay noted that the staff was particularly appreciative of the new items our church members provided – pillows, sheets, and personal hygiene items. Through generous donations to the Angel Giving Tree which was decorated with donated hats, gloves, and scarves, the shelter was able to use the items as stocking stuffers for residents. Thank you to all of you for your heartfelt gifts for the Shelter!
The Women of St. Barnabas are once again sponsoring a collection for the West Women’s and Children’s Shelter. Their need is great and we have shown our ability to have a high impact on meeting their necessities. After Thanksgiving, we will set up our Christmas tree in Grafe Hall. Once again, we will focus on cleaning supplies and personal items for the women and children who reside at the shelter. We also provide them with Fred Meyer gift cards so that the staff can provide for specific needs throughout the year. Monetary donations for these cards can be given to Kay Martin or Cathie in the office. Here are suggested donations that can be placed under the Christmas tree:
- Hygiene products such as deodorant, shampoo and conditioner, body wash and razors
- Cleaning supplies
- Toilet paper, paper towels, plastic silverware
- Baby wipes and diapers
- Bus tickets
A more complete list will appear on a flyer in the Sunday bulletin. Please remember, their need is great and the Shelter’s service to the community is so needed. Please help St. Barnabas help them!
