Safeguarding God’s Children is required for all volunteers working with children in the congregation. If you need to attend the training, a session is offered on Saturday, October 17, 8:00 AM – Noon, at Ascension Episcopal Church in Portland. Our Vestry Liaison for Christian Education, Robbie Jessen is planning to attend, so you won’t be lonely. You can register on the Diocese of Oregon website, under the formation drop down.
A new middle school and high school Christian formation program begins with a get-together to make homemade pizza on Sunday, Sep. 13 from 5:00-7:00 PM in Grafe Hall. Elizabeth Draper and Melissa Wall will facilitate the group, with support from other members of the congregation. The program will focus on offering our young adults the opportunity to explore their faith in ways that will help sustain them as they enter adulthood. Beginning Sunday, Sep. 27, the group will meet in the Barnabas House basement from 11:15-11:45 AM– there will be snacks!
Christian education for kids in Kindergarten through 5th grade will resume on Sunday Sept. 13th. A new curriculum and process is planned. Class will be in Room 1 (downstairs, next to the church office). The class will commence at the beginning of the 10:00 AM service – the kids can go straight to the classroom upon arrival at the church, and they will return to the service in time for the birthday blessings. Be there and bring a friend!
Susan Mahon has been appointed Sunday School coordinator (or Christian Education Coordinator) many thanks to her for taking on this important ministry. Additional adult teachers and helpers are needed—no experience necessary!
