SEARS ARMORY SHELTER MEAL PREPARATION DAY

NEXT SEARS ARMORY SHELTER MEAL PREPARATION DAY IS SUNDAY APRIL 3. Please plan to stay after Christian education on Sunday, April 3, to help make sandwiches and fill bags with many yummy things for our neighbors who are finding shelter from the elements at the Sears Armory. It only takes about an hour. Making the bags is simple, the comradery is great, the sense of accomplishment is fantastic, and we improve the day of 160 people who are grateful for a nice meal made with love. Please join us, you won’t be sorry!

Vestry Position Open

Chris Battista, our fantastic Junior Warden for the last two years, has resigned from his position on the Vestry. While we will miss his leadership, we are grateful that he has volunteered to see some key projects through to their conclusion, especially the retrofit of our furnace controls. THANK YOU CHRIS!

With Chris’s resignation, we have an open position on the Vestry and oversight of our buildings and grounds (the role of the Junior Warden) is left leaderless. If you are interested in serving on the Vestry, or, perhaps, interested in supporting (not running) the management of our physical plant, please contact Betty Woerner or Fr. Sean.

The St. Barnabas PlayGround Is Back in Business

After six months out of commission, our playground is back and better than ever. With help from Church Mutual Insurance Company (although not quite help as much as we hoped), we have repaired or replaced everything that was damaged during the August 28 windstorm when a large limb from the oak tree fell and crushed several items. We added some age appropriate toys for the Portland Kindershule (PKS) kids and installed 4×10 landscape timbers to contain three dump trucks loads of engineered wood fiber to keep the kids safe when they fall. The playground looks beautiful and will serve as a great gathering place for the preschool and our congregation for years to come.

Breakfast Between the Services

Don’t forget Breakfast Between the Services on Palm Sunday (March 20) at 9:00. Food service will end at 9:30 to begin preparations for the Liturgy of the Palms in Grafe Hall. COME EARLY!

Easter Baskets!

Interested in delivering an Easter basket to one of our homebound congregants? We still have two spots open. Please see the sign-up sheet in Grafe Hall or call Carolyn Nelson.

Holy Week Begins with Palm Sunday

Holy Week Begins with Palm Sunday, March 20 and Concludes with the Easter Vigil (with Holy Baptism) at 7:30 PM on Saturday, March 26. In our busy lives it is hard to go to church five times in eight days (Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Vigil and Easter Morning), but it is a very rewarding experience to walk with Jesus from his triumphal entry into Jerusalem, through his trial, crucifixion and resurrection. It takes much commitment to make it to every service, but I hope you will try. I Promise, you will be spiritually rewarded for your effort.
