On Easter morning, the chapel was transformed into a nursery space for our littlest members. Please take a peek at the new furniture, books, and toys. For the time being, the nursery will be staffed by volunteers, and we are asking for parish members to help. Having a safe place for little ones allows parents to attend the service knowing that their children are in good care. Are you a qualified babysitter? Or are you a grandma needing some cuddle time? Earn your angel wings by volunteering! We need two volunteers each Sunday. If you are interested in taking a Sunday shift, please talk to Father Sean.
As described at the March 30th services, the Vestry has reinstituted the Commission system as a means to better coordinate and organize the work of the parish. Each Vestry member has been assigned as the liaison to a specific Commission. This does not mean that he or she is the chair! The Vestry liaison is responsible for forming a Commission and serving as the linkage between the various groups and activities within that Commission and the Vestry. This means that members will now know whom to speak with if they have an idea, suggestion, constructive criticism, etc.
Assuming that the Barnabas House sale is completed soon, we will receive a payment of funds. The stipulation from the Diocese is that we focus these funds on remodeling our remaining physical plant to meet our current, modern ministry and mission. As Father Sean has joked, in his mind the amount has been spent ten-fold with dreams of fixing this, replacing that, refurbishing something else, etc.
Do you have a Rewards Card? If so, you can help the St. Barnabas budget just by using your card. Free money for St. Barnabas! Rewards Card members can link their cards to the community organization of their choice (i.e., St. Barnabas). Then every time you use your card, Fred Meyer will make a donation to the church. So far, we have received $56.33 from this program. You pay nothing extra and you do not lose your Rewards Points – it’s free to you! Is “Pomp & Circumstance” in your future? Do you have a child who will graduate this year? On Sunday, June 1st, St. Barnabas will honor our latest group of college, high school, and middle school graduates during the 10 A.M. service. Please contact the church office with details (name, school, major, next steps, etc.) so that we may include your graduate.
On Sunday, May 18th, Father Sean blessed the garden as part of the 10 A.M. service. Following the service, the congregation processed outside and blessed the garden. Now the work begins! Parishioners are encouraged to bring veggies to plant in the garden and/or to volunteer to weed, water, etc. For more information, contact Carolyn Nelson, Garden Coordinator.
The Pastoral Care Committee will be meeting on Monday, May 19th at 11 A.M. in Room 1. Please direct any questions to Sheila Dougherty or Scot MacLean.
